10 Reasons Why Shopping Online Beats the Pants off of Shopping In-Person

As the Internet becomes more and more prevalent in our daily lives, you may find yourself trying to avoid getting sucked further and further in. But there are some things in cyberspace that have trumped their real world counterparts, including shopping! Unless you're an absolute shopaholic, it's likely you'll have greater success shopping online, and here's why.

  • No crowds! This is probably the main reason people shop online, especially around the holidays. In the comfort of your own home you don't have to deal with panicked shoppers, screaming children or pushy salespeople. It's difficult enough trying to find the right item or gift, you shouldn't have to fight off crazed consumers in the process.

  • Shop anytime! There are no store hours on the Internet, so you can shop in the middle of the night or even on your lunch break. This also means you can check out a product in the morning, think about it for a few hours and purchase it that evening without having to make multiple trips.

  • Browse in your underpants! Or in your pajamas, or your nightgown, or however else you please. Shopping can be a tiring chore which can leave you looking like a mess, so by staying home there's no need to worry about getting all gussied up.

  • Save on extra expenditures! When you're shopping out and about, it's likely you'll spend money on stuff other than your main purchases. There's the gas to get around, food and snacks to keep you going and also those pesky impulse buys that you don't really need. Avoid all of it by shopping on the Internet!

  • You can multi-task! Shopping at home allows you to do multiple tasks in addition to browsing. You can also watch TV, listen to music, get work done, chat on a social network and keep an eye on the kids.

  • It's faster! In the time it takes you to drive to the mall, walk all over it for the three stores you need, stand in line for check-out, wander around the parking lot for your car, and then make it back home, you could've ordered all your gifts online, baked a cake, watched a movie and solved world hunger! And you'd be much less stressed.

  • Comparison shopping! Shopping online allows you to compare prices and products from countless websites. You can easily check consumer reviews instead of hoping your salesperson isn't trying to pull a fast one. It's an amazingly convenient and efficient way to find exactly what you're looking for, and at the best price!

  • Giant selection! With brick-and-mortar shopping--that is, shopping at the actual "brick-and-mortar" store--you only have the ability to purchase what's physically near you. Online, however, the choices are endless! You can shop from stores all over the country and even all over the world! (If you can afford the shipping, that is.) You shouldn't have to settle on a gift or product just because it's close by.

  • Shop AND ship! If you're buying gifts that have to be mailed out, it's a huge hassle to go to the store, head home, wrap the gifts, and THEN go stand in line at the post office. Many online stores allow you to send items as gifts, wrapping and all! It saves time, energy and even money.

  • Instant coupons! If you're at a physical store and you don't have any coupons, it's not very likely they'll magically appear just before you're ready to check out. Shopping online, however, allows you to check the Internet for coupons and discount codes for the product you're buying or the store you're shopping at, which is exactly like magic! Okay, maybe not exactly, but many websites even build these discounts into the checkout process without making you search for them, and that's pretty magical!
