Online Dating Advice - 5 Things to Watch Out For

It might seem odd that I would choose to talk about what to watch out for when receiving online dating advice, but there is a method to my madness. Just making people aware of a few things to watch out for, is something that I take very seriously. For this reason, it made much sense to me to compile a small list of things to watch out for when getting online dating advice.
Of course, there is always some good with the bad when it comes to getting advice of any kind, this is not exclusive to just dating advice that you might get online. Just keep in mind that dating has everything to do with human behavior, which is never stagnant at all. You can't pigeon hole and stereotype everyone, so there are always going to be different results and experiences for different people.
These are 5 good things to think about whenever you are going for dating advice on the internet:
1. People are writing mostly their opinions. Every once in a while you might find someone who tosses in a dash of science, but over all, it is just their opinion on the subject and nothing more. Opinions can be filled with biases and holes in their theories for why they think the way that they do, so this is something to watch out for.
2. No one is an absolute expert at dating. We all get surprised from time to time. There are many situations where logically a couple should not work out and yet, they do and they are totally happy. And there are just as many instances of couples that should work out and yet, they just don't seem to make it. So, don't think anyone out there has ALL of the answers when it comes to dating advice.
3. Watch out for outlandish theories that cannot be back by any real data. For example, if there is one technique that is supposed to work for all people who use it, there better be some amazing scientific data to back that one up. If there is none, then chances are, the theory is untested and they are just pulling out their experience and claiming it to be scientific or something.
4. Some people who give dating advice have horrible dating experiences. You might be surprised at how many dating advice experts don't really have a good track record themselves. I once met a guy who as a dating coach in Manhattan who made good money doing it, yet he still lived at home with his mom at age 35. Never married, engaged, or even with a girlfriend.
5. You need to have varieties of dating advice. There is no one size fits all solution. People come from different walks of life. They come from different value systems and cultures. And they are attracted to different things.
