Before becoming a full-fledged adult, a person goes through several stages in life, from birth to adolescence. These stages are applicable to all individuals, although the rate of development may vary from child to child. There are several factors that affect the development of a kid. Heredity is the primary aspect, in which traits and characteristics are passed from the parent while the child is still in the womb. Heredity is responsible for the physical traits, such as the eye color, hair type, complexion, and bone structure. Heredity is also responsible for the general disposition and behavior of the child.
Another major aspect is environment. Where and how you live will have a huge impact on how your child will turn out. This is why every parent must take into consideration factors, such as living conditions, location, neighbors, and the community as a whole. These will influence how your child will grow up. Even general possessions, such as clothing, shoes, toys, and childrens watches will somehow affect child development.
There are five major modes in child development: Physical, Motor, Language, Ideas and Thoughts, and Social.
Your child continually develops physically from childhood to adulthood. It starts with primary skeletal and muscle growth to manifestations of one’s femininity or masculinity. Then, we see improvement in motor skills, in which a child learns how to use his small muscles to do things. Verbal development stems from being exposed to sounds and tones which they will associate with particular actions and items. As a child grows up, his ideas and thoughts change gradually. Socialization works hand in hand with maturity. This is the stage where he makes friends and begins to ask for material items, such as boys watches for his own socialization purposes.
Children go through several stages as they develop from child to adulthood. First is the infancy stage, in which physical development is the primary purpose. An infant does nothing but sleep, cry, drink milk, and eliminate waste. This is the stage in which parents must give utmost care to their child since kids are most vulnerable at this stage.
Second stage is childhood, in which physical development slows down a bit to give way to other types of growth. The child develops his intellectual and coordination skills. This is why toddlers aged three to five years old are very energetic and tend to question everything they see. In this stage, they learn how to write or draw. This is the time that your child will foster friendship with playmates. Together, these kids will look and ask for all sorts of stuff, such as how mountains are made and how girls watches are used.
Third stage is adolescence, which is crucial because how the child develops during this stage will have a major effect on how he will turn out as an adult. Adolescence usually starts from nine to twelve years old. Physical transformation is very much evident. Girls will develop breasts, hips, body hair, and menstruation. Boys will develop deeper voices, pubic hair, and experience surge of growth in their penis and testicles. Girls usually mature earlier than boys.
